Wait, What? It's 2 am already?


If you haven't been into the Korean drama craze, then you missing out in several ways. I don't know why I'm so driven to these shows, but there is nothing like K-dramas to put my emotions and fangirling tendencies into overdrive.


While there have tons of great K-Dramas from years past that absolutely deserve your attention, this year had brought some really good k-drama to binge-watch as well. From silly romantic comedies to series that explore psychological trauma—you'll definitely find something to your liking. Here are the 10 best Korean dramas of 2020 so far. (This is not in order, I repeat this is not in order!)



It's Okay to Not Be Okay

It's Okay to Not Be Okay (Korean: 사이코지만 괜찮아; RRSaikojiman gwaenchana; lit. Psycho But It's Okay) is a 2020 South Korean romantic television series starring Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Ye-ji. The series tells an unusual romance story between two people who end up healing each other's emotional and psychological wounds. It aired on tvN every Saturday and Sunday at 21:00 (KST) time slot from June 20 to August 9, 2020 for 16 episodes. The series is available worldwide on Netflix.


A World of Married Couple

The World of the Married (Korean: 부부의 세계; Hanja: 夫婦의 世界; RRBubu-ui Segye; lit. Couple's World) is a 2020 South Korean television series starring Kim Hee-ae, Park Hae-joon, and Han So-hee. Based on BBC One's drama series Doctor Foster starring Suranne Jones, it tells a story of a married couple whose betrayal of one another leads to a whirlwind of revenge, grief, forgiveness and healing. It aired on JTBC on Fridays and Saturdays from March 27 to May 16, 2020.


The series is the highest-rated drama in Korean cable television history, overtaking SKY Castle with its final episode reaching a nationwide rating of 28.371%. It also recorded the highest average rating for a drama on cable television, with an average rating of 18.829%. Although the series was criticized for its portrayal of sex and violence, it received positive reviews from critics for its screenplay, direction and acting performances, with Mo Wan-il winning Best Director and Kim Hee-ae winning Best Actress at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards.


Itaewon Class


Itaewon Class (Korean: 이태원 클라쓰; RRItaewon Keullasseu) is a 2020 South Korean television series starring Park Seo-joon, Kim Da-mi, Yoo Jae-myung and Kwon Nara. Based on the webtoon of the same name, it is the first series to be produced by the film distribution company Showbox. It aired on JTBC in Korea from January 31 to March 21, 2020, and is streaming worldwide on Netflix.


Itaewon Class' final episode recorded a 16.548% nationwide audience share, making it the third-highest viewership rating in JTBC and the seventh highest rated drama in Korean cable television history.


Record of Youth

Record of Youth (Korean: 청춘기록; Hanja: 青春紀錄; RRCheongchungirok) is a 2020 South Korean television series starring Park Bo-gum, Park So-dam, Byeon Woo-seok and Kwon Soo-hyun. It premiered on tvN on September 7, 2020, airing every Monday and Tuesday at 21:00 (KST), and is available for streaming worldwide on Netflix.


The King: Eternal Monarch

The King: Eternal Monarch (Korean: 더 킹: 영원의 군주; Hanja: 더 킹: 永遠의 君主; RRDeo King: Yeongwonui Gunju) is a 2020 romantic-fantasy South Korean television series starring Lee Min-ho, Kim Go-eun, Woo Do-hwan, Kim Kyung-nam, Jung Eun-chae and Lee Jung-jin. Written by Kim Eun-sook and produced by Hwa&Dam Pictures and its parent company Studio Dragon, the series premiered on SBS TV and Netflix for the global audience on April 17, 2020.


Hailing as one of the most anticipated series in the first half of 2020 due to its ensemble cast, screenwriter, extensive publicity and more than 30 billion Won (US$25 million) production budget, the series set a record for SBS’s highest 2020 Friday-Saturday drama premiere ratings following the release of the first episode and maintained the No.1 spot on the weekly Wavve drama chart for eight consecutive weeks, with GMA News Online terming it a "hit Netflix drama" due to its popularity overseas. On the other hand, it received lower-than-expected domestic TV viewership ratings due to criticism of its screenplay, directing, editing and various controversies.


Crash Landing on You

Crash Landing on You (Korean: 사랑의 불시착; RRSarangui Bulsichak; MRSarangŭi pulshich'ak; lit. Love's Emergency Landing) is a South Korean television series directed by Lee Jeong-hyo and featuring Hyun Bin, Son Ye-jin, Kim Jung-hyun, and Seo Ji-hye. It is about a South Korean chaebol heiress who, while paragliding in Seoul, South Korea, is swept up in a sudden storm and crash-lands in the North Korean portion of the DMZ. The series aired on tvN in South Korea and on Netflix worldwide from December 14, 2019, to February 16, 2020.



I'll Go To You When the Weather Is Nice

When the Weather Is Fine (Korean: 날씨가 좋으면 찾아가겠어요; RRNalssiga Joeumyeon Chajagagesseoyo; lit. I'll Go to You When the Weather Is Fine) is a 2020 South Korean television series starring Seo Kang-joon and Park Min-young. Based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Lee Do-woo, it aired on JTBC from February 24 to April 21, 2020.


Kingdom: Season 2

Kingdom (Korean: 킹덤; RRKingdeom) is a 2019 South Korean political period horror thriller web television series written by Kim Eun-hee and directed by Kim Seong-hun. It is Netflix's first original Korean series,[a] which premiered on January 25, 2019. The series is adapted from the webcomic series The Kingdom of the Gods, which was authored by Kim Eun-hee and drawn by Yang Kyung-il.


The series was positively reviewed, and renewed for a second season which was released on March 13, 2020.

Do You Like Brahms?

Do You Like Brahms? (Korean: 브람스를 좋아하세요?; RRBeuramseureul Joahaseyo?) is a 2020 South Korean television series starring Park Eun-bin and Kim Min-jae. It is a romance drama about the students of classical music at a prestigious institution. It premiered on SBS on August 31, 2020, airing every Monday and Tuesday at 22:20 (KST) time slot.


When I was the most beautiful

When I Was The Most Beautiful (Korean: 내가 가장 예뻤을때; RRNaega Gajang Yebbeotseulddae) is a 2020 South Korean romantic television series starring Im Soo-hyang, Ji Soo, Ha Seok-jin and Hwang Seung-eon. The series tells the story of a woman ceramic artist who falls in love with two brothers. Produced by May Queen Pictures for MBC, it aired on MBC TV on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:30 (KST) time slot starting from August 19, 2020.
